Kelly Serio serves as the Executive Director at The Barclay at Midlothian. She is from Lynchburg, VA, originally, but she has lived in Richmond, VA, for 3 years. Kelly has a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business, where she majored in Hospitality & Tourism Management. At her very first job, she was a server at an independent living community called The Summit in Lynchburg, VA. This job sparked her passion for serving others and the importance of customer service. She worked there throughout high school and into college. During college, she became an Administrative Intern at The Summit, as well as four other locations, working alongside the owners of the building and shadowing their home office team and executive directors. Her internship had a heavy focus on growth expansion and strategic planning within the organization. After she graduated from college, she became a Move-In Coordinator, where she fell in love with the art of selling. From there, she took a position as an Administrator in Training, where she trained under an amazing ED who taught her so much. Once she got her license, she was placed at The Barclay at Midlothian and has been here since April 2024.
Kelly loves working with seniors because of the relationships she builds with the residents. She says, “I have met incredible seniors throughout my time in senior living. I remember the residents who have touched my heart, and I think about them daily.” As a part of QSLM, she enjoys working with great home office support whom she learns from daily.
Outside of work, Kelly loves walking and spending time with her goldendoodle, Zoe. However, her favorite hobby is baking. She bakes everything, but her current favorite thing to bake is sourdough bread!
