Wendy Reaves is the Assistant Director of Wellness at The Blake at Pensacola. Originally from the Memphis, TN area, she has been a nurse for almost 32 years. She began her career as a Heart/Lung Transplant nurse and has also worked in Cardiac ICU and adult ER. She later transitioned into pediatric ER/ICU at a pediatric Level 1 trauma center in Memphis. She also spent several years at St. Jude working in the Hematology and Chemotherapy departments. In 2013, she entered the Assisted Living Facility (ALF) setting to help stabilize a struggling community. It was during that time that she discovered her passion for senior care, and she has remained dedicated to it ever since. She has served as a Director of Nursing in Senior Care since 2019. She received her IV certification in 1993 and Critical Care certification in 1993/94 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Parkinson Structured Certified, credentials she obtained in Naples, Florida, in 2019.
She loves working in senior care—so much so that it often doesn’t feel like work. She describes it as spending time with beloved grandparents every day. She takes pride in educating residents and their families about healthcare diagnoses and disease processes. She is a strong advocate for physical and occupational therapy as a means to promote independence and strength in aging. She also enjoys sharing her healthcare knowledge with fellow team members whenever possible. She values her work at QSLM, describing it as a family-style management team that genuinely supports its staff—a key element, in her view, to creating a successful and thriving community, and something not found everywhere.
In her personal time, she enjoys playing golf, boating, or spending time at the beach. Always active, she also has a passion for fashion and style, traveling, and spending quality time with her five grown sons, whose ages range from 29 to 33. She is married to her high school sweetheart.
