Meet Our Team

Dan Geurtsen serves as the General Manager at Deepwood Estates by Barclay House, bringing over 25 years of leadership and management experience to the role. Originally from Hartford, Wisconsin, Dan earned his Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia.

Before joining the senior living industry, Dan spent 20 years in the United States Army, held various project management roles, and even owned and operated a small business. What began as a part-time role in senior living quickly became a true passion. Dan discovered a deep sense of purpose in caring for others and found his calling in helping residents live meaningful, joyful lives.

As General Manager, Dan is committed to building a strong community where both residents and team members feel valued and supported. He also appreciates the sense of purpose that comes with working at QSLM and the unwavering support from the Home Office team.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys competitive fishing, relaxing at the beach, and taking well-earned naps. He’s a proud father of three adult children and grandfather to four—with one more on the way. He’s also happily engaged and looking forward to getting married.

Susan Spears is the Community Sales Manager at Deepwood Estates by Barclay House, where she brings more than 15 years of experience in sales and marketing, including 7 years dedicated to the senior living industry. Originally from Aiken, South Carolina, Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in Retail Management and Hospitality from the University of South Carolina.

With a heart for service and a passion for people, Susan is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and their families. She finds joy in fostering a welcoming, supportive environment where residents experience true community, wellness, and connection.

At QSLM, Susan values the spirit of collaboration and the shared mission to serve others with compassion and purpose. When she’s not working, you can find her enjoying live music, participating in her local church, relaxing at the beach, or spending quality time with her family.

Amber Ott serves as the Director of Business Operations at QSLM. Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, she brings a diverse background in management, human resources, billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Her previous experience includes roles at a local independent living facility, a non-medical in-home care company, a durable medical equipment provider, and a sleep lab.

Amber’s favorite part of working with seniors is hearing their life stories and learning about the fascinating places they've been and the things they've accomplished. At QSLM, she values being part of a wonderful team that truly cares about the residents they serve.

Outside of work, Amber enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, crafting, and singing on the praise team at her church.

Jessica Walker Watson serves as the Activities Coordinator at Deepwood Estates by Barclay House, where she brings a deep passion for enriching the lives of seniors through engaging, thoughtful programming. Originally from Lexington, South Carolina, Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Strayer University (2023) and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work, which she is set to complete in 2026.

Jessica’s professional certifications reflect her dedication to wellness and advocacy. She holds a Dementia Care Specialist certificate (2025) from the Alzheimer’s Association, as well as certifications in Mental Health Advocacy and Intervention (2023) from the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. In 2023, she also became a certified Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Instructor. Her credentials in activity coordination include an Activity Professionals certificate (AP-BC) from the National Activity Professionals Credentialing Center (2024), and she is currently pursuing her Advanced Activity Professionals certificate (AAP-BC). She is a standing member of the South Carolina Activity Professionals Association.

Her journey in activities began at just 16 with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands, where she advanced from front desk clerk to Activities Assistant. Jessica has also served as Activities Director at Hopebridge at the Oaks, supporting special needs adults, and later as Youth MOVE SC and Project Aware Director for the State of South Carolina. She remains actively involved in the SC Project Aware Committee and continues to volunteer regularly.

Jessica’s favorite part of working with seniors is helping them maintain accessibility, mobility, and cognitive function—believing firmly that everyone deserves to live their best life at any age. She finds joy in advocating for mental health, supporting residents with compassion, and seeing the smiles that make every event and effort worthwhile.

At QSLM, Jessica values the strong, positive relationships she builds with both residents and team members, fostering a collaborative and uplifting environment.

Outside of work, Jessica leads a vibrant life. She enjoys serving tea in her community, educating others on mental health and suicide prevention, tutoring youth and adults with special needs, volunteering, attending church, traveling, playing video games, and relaxing at her cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
