Meet Our Team

Carol DeSpirito serves as the Director of Business Development at The Barclay at Little River. Carol is from Scranton, Pennsylvania, and has a Communications degree from University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. She has 25 years of experience working within the senior community. She has worked in non-medical care, senior psychiatric care, and senior living communities. 

Carol wants to be a blessing to families that are looking for the right community for their loved one or themselves. She often wishes that she’d had assistance when she began researching communities for her own mother, so she wants to be that person for others now. Carol’s favorite part of working at QSLM is the caring, loving, and energetic group of individuals on her team. She says, “Separately they are amazing, together we are unstoppable.”

When she’s not working, Carol and her husband like to travel to visit their growing family in multiple states across the country. She also has an 80 lb. chocolate lab named RuthAnn who keeps her moving!

Amy Gaskins is the Director of Business Operations at The Barclay at Little River. She’s originally from Elkton, Virginia. She has a strong background in accounting and business operations, developed through her education and years of hands-on experience in the field. Before moving to the Myrtle Beach area, she spent 12 years in off-campus student housing as an Assistant General Manager, where she played a key role in the day-to-day operations of the community. She was heavily involved in overseeing resident accounts, managing accounts payable, and ensuring the financial side of the property ran smoothly and accurately. Her role required strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and the ability to handle complex situations, while supporting both residents and her team. Over the years, she became a go-to resource for all things accounting and operations and helped maintain efficiency and consistency across the property.

The residents are without a doubt Amy’s favorite part of her job. She enjoys spending time with them, getting to know them and their families, and learning about where they come from and their life stories.

When she’s not working, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, her husband of 21 years, and their dogs. She has a 21-year-old son who is a computer science major and a 19-year-old daughter who is double majoring in Psychology and Criminology. Both of her kids are student-athletes, so Amy loves going to their games and cheering them on. In general, her family is big into sports, and they love watching football, baseball, softball, and basketball together. Amy has a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and is very passionate about animal rescue. She also loves to travel. Her family goes on multiple cruises a year and visits Walt Disney World whenever they can.
