Meet Our Team

Demetrice (Dee) Wynn serves as the Director of Business Operations at The Barclay at Charlottesville, bringing over 20 years of dedicated experience in the senior living industry. Originally from Keswick, Virginia, Dee has built her career on a foundation of compassionate care, strong leadership, and a deep appreciation for the lives and legacies of older adults.

Known for her commitment to excellence, Dee values the supportive culture at QSLM and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of residents and their families. Her favorite part of working with seniors is learning their life stories and helping to enhance their quality of life—a calling that continues to inspire her every day.

Outside of her professional role, Dee is a talented entrepreneur who owns a cake business and event planning company. Whether she’s crafting memorable events or spending meaningful time with her family, Dee’s passion for creating joy and connection shines through in all she does.

Jennifer (Jenny) Meade is the Assistant Director of Wellness at the Barclay at Charlottesville. She is a lifelong resident of the Charlottesville area. She has a nursing degree from Richmond School of Health and Technology, as well as CDP credentials and 20+ years of nursing experience, with 15 of those in long-term care.

Jenny’s favorite part of working with the senior population is the opportunity to learn about life from them and the honor of being entrusted to enhance their quality of life through care that she can provide. Her favorite part of working at QSLM is the positive atmosphere and kindness among all departments. 

When Jenny isn’t working, she likes hanging out with her family, watching college sports, cooking, and doing anything outdoors, especially spending time at the beach.

Amanda Shifflett is the Activities Director for both Assisted Living and Independent Living at The Barclay at Charlottesville. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, she now calls the warm and close-knit community of Greene County home.

Amanda is certified and trained through the Department of Social Services and the Alzheimer’s Association in Adult Group Activities and resident-centered assessment. Since beginning her healthcare career in 2011, she has devoted much of her time to creating meaningful engagement programs that bring joy, purpose, and connection to senior living communities.

Her favorite part of working with older adults is the wisdom they share and the genuine, heartfelt moments they create each day. From laughter to life lessons, Amanda finds inspiration in every interaction.

She values QSLM for its supportive environment, collaborative spirit, and commitment to resident-centered care. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys crafting and spending quality time with her loved ones. She believes that communities like The Barclay—where care, connection, and purpose thrive—can truly transform lives.

Ron Gilbert is the Reunion Program Coordinator at The Barclay at Charlottesville. He is from Staunton, VA. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy, aboard The U.S.S. Mount Whitney, during Operation Desert Storm. After he served for four years, he received an Honorable Discharge and worked for McKee Foods, Inc. for 24 years. This is the company that makes Little Debbie snack cakes! 

Ron has always had a passion for seniors. He started out volunteering, singing, and doing activities in local senior homes, and he soon took a job in housekeeping for a local senior living home. He worked on the weekends assisting the Activities Department and eventually became an Activity Assistant. In time, he got promoted to Activity Director, working in Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, Memory Care, and occasionally assisting Independent residents. He also has experience in transportation in senior living for medical transports and outings.

Ron also has several formal qualifications to complement his experiences. His certifications from The Alzheimer's Association and The Virginia Department of Social Services, including 40 Hours for Adult Group Activities, Skill Building for Dementia Care, Activities for Residents with Dementia and Cognitive Impairments, A Person-Centered Approach Training, and Rights and Choices for Residents in Dementia Care. He is also a Certified Program Director from Dementia By Day and a Certified Fire Fighter II through the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Fire Programs.
