Amy Oliver
Director of Activities
Amy Oliver initially started at the Smoky Springs community as a concierge and has grown into her current role as the Activities Director. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Amy moved to the suburbs of metro Atlanta as a child. She has since planted her own family's roots here in Northeast Georgia on Lake Lanier.
Amy is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and has a wide range of experience that has helped shape her into her current role. She has over a decade's worth of time in the hospitality industry, along with Early Childhood Education as an Afterschool Care Program Director, Social Media Director, and Community Liaison. Amy has also worked for a nonprofit designed to help women and mothers heal and grow from crisis situations, leading social media, networking/fundraising, and community engagement. Before joining Smoky Springs, she served as a Director of Sales in a senior living community that specialized in Memory Care.
Her favorite part of working with seniors is - all of it! Every day, she feels so much gratitude that she gets to work and hang out with her 'besties'. Amy feels fortunate to play a role in making others 'final chapter' engaging, exciting, and most importantly, fun! She has a sign that says, "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional", and thinks it couldn't be more true. Who says getting older has to be so serious?
Amy's grandma moved into Smoky Springs about a year after she started, and she is thankful to be able to see her every day. QSLM as a whole provides a community where she feels the leaders invest in her and her career goals. From her direct supervisor to the home office, Amy genuinely feels that she's being poured into to continue to grow and learn within senior living.
When she's not working, her kids keep her busy. She has an 11-year-old, a 4-year-old, and a 3-year-old. So, they are constantly doing something! In Amy's house, they are an artsy, crafty bunch. She loves DIY, repurposing old pieces, and anything that surrounds crafts.
