Emily Githens
Resident Care Coordinator
Emily Githens is the Resident Care Coordinator at Barclay House of Carrollton. A proud Carrollton, Georgia, native, Emily brings over 23 years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Med Tech, certified by the State of Georgia.
Her deep-rooted passion for senior care shines through in everything she does. “I love learning from those who have come before me, and it’s truly an honor to provide care for them,” she shares.
Emily's favorite part of working at QSLM is the warm, family-like environment and strong sense of community. She takes great pride in her role and the peace of mind she helps provide to families. “I truly enjoy being able to care for seniors and allow families a chance to catch their breath, knowing that their loved ones are in good hands.”
Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending quality time with her family and finding moments to relax and recharge.
Megan Martella
Director of Business Operations
Megan Martella serves as the Director of Business Operations at Barclay House of Carrollton. A Georgia native, Megan holds an Assisted Living Administrator License and brings a wealth of hands-on experience in senior care.
Her journey in the community began nearly six years ago as a caregiver. Over time, her dedication and leadership led her through roles as MedTech and Resident Care Coordinator before stepping into her current position. This progression reflects her deep commitment to serving seniors and supporting team growth from within.
Megan’s favorite part of working with seniors is the profound sense of purpose and connection the role provides. She finds immense value in the emotional rewards that come with forming authentic relationships and supporting residents during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives.
What Megan appreciates most about working with Barclay House and QSLM is the strong foundation of support and the depth of knowledge and experience within the leadership team.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys reading, spending quality time with her family, and relaxing with her beloved dog, Tucker.
Rita Gibson
Director of Activities
Rita Gibson serves as the Director of Activities at Barclay House of Carrollton. A Carrollton native, she has worked in senior living for nine years. Her career here began as concierge. Later, she also provided transportation for our residents, before moving up to her current role. Prior to joining the QSLM team, she spent seven years as a manager in Accounts Payable for a manufacturing company.
Rita loves adding joy to the lives of our residents, as well as giving them the utmost respect and compassion, especially when they are having challenging days. She also loves being part of the marvelous QSLM team.
Outside of work, Rita is a member of the missionary group at her church, and they dedicate time to serving in both the church and the community. She also enjoys spending time with her daughter and two granddaughters. They keep her on her toes in every way.
Melissa Hollinger
Reunion Program Coordinator
Melissa Hollinger serves as the Reunion Program Manager at Barclay House of Carrollton. She grew up as an Army brat and lived in 14 different states, total, including Alabama and Oregon. She has an Associate in Business from Gadsden State Community College, and she is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a Certified Med Tech, and a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). She has over 20 years of experience in healthcare, with the majority of it being in a Dementia and Alzheimer's care setting. She has done everything from home health and private care to lock down units.
Melissa loves everything about working with seniors, but her favorite part is seeing how much they still have to offer the rest of the world. They are wise, funny, and kind. They still enjoy most things, too, so she gets to figure out what new fun things to include in the activities for the month—that is the fun part of her job. She enjoys working at QSLM because she has the opportunity to do what she loves every single day.
When she’s not working, Melissa likes to be outdoors and to travel. She has visited 39 states in total!
James Kello
Director of Facilities Management
James Kello is the Director of Facilities Management at Barclay House of Carrollton. Originally from Douglasville, Georgia, James brings over 20 years of experience from the private sector, having worked with On Site Machine Works, Inc., a local contractor that provided equipment services to major companies, primarily in the food and beverage industry. James’s deep knowledge and hands-on expertise make him a vital part of the Barclay House team. He is passionate about maintaining a safe, comfortable, and functional environment that allows residents to live as independently as possible. “My favorite part of working with seniors is helping provide an environment that helps them maintain their independence,” James shares. “And what I appreciate most about working at Barclay House is the incredible support from the regional directors—it truly makes a difference.” Outside of work, James enjoys fishing and spending time with his dogs, finding peace and enjoyment in the outdoors and the company of his four-legged companions.
Robert Thomas
Director of Dining Services
Robert Thomas is the Director of Dining Services at Barclay House of Carrollton. Originally from Long Island, New York, he attended Adelphi University and has extensive experience in hotel and restaurant management, catering and banquets, and working in hospitals and nursing homes.
Robert loves making a positive difference in our seniors’ daily lives. Providing nutritious, enjoyable meals and seeing our residents smile and feel cared for is the most rewarding part of his job. He also enjoys building relationships with his QSLM coworkers and being part of a team that truly cares.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending quality time with his family, riding his three-wheeler with his wife, and enjoying a good movie.
